My Reflections:

"How did the use of technology enhance students' learning experience?"

Key Affordances of Technology (KAT): Scaffolding

Using the ArcGIS StoryMaps, explicit scaffolds were provided through the embedding of maps, videos and immersive slideshows. This enabled students to better visualise geographical phenomena. Implicit scaffolds were also woven into the design elements to guide student-content interaction. One instance is through the use of sections and separators, which helped students stay focused and better organise their thoughts.

"How do you feel this new technological affordance will impact the future of T&L?"

The use of the ArcGIS StoryMaps has enabled me to design learning experiences that are more immersive and interactive. As shared in my presentation, StoryMaps can help teachers overcome limitations such as not being able to find suitable maps, or that the static maps used not allowing for students to interact much with data. This is done through using the platform’s GIS capabilities to customise map layers and include additional data within the map to make the learning experience richer.
